Melaka Asnaf Grateful for Aidiladha Qurban Meat Distribution

MELAKA CITY, June 7 – A heartfelt smile lit up the face of Hawa Sahat, a 45-year-old single mother from Peringgit, as she received her very first share of qurban meat in conjunction with this year’s Aidiladha celebration.

Hawa was among the many recipients from the asnaf category (eligible zakat recipients) who benefitted from the Melaka State-Level Grand Qurban Programme 2025M/1446H, held in collaboration with Ez Qurban at Masjid Al-Azim, Bukit Palah today.

“Alhamdulillah, this is my first time receiving qurban meat. I’m truly grateful because, in times like these, every form of assistance is deeply meaningful,” she told reporters.
“Even though we don’t live luxuriously like others, I always make sure my children get to celebrate Raya.”

The qurban meat was personally distributed by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka, Tun Seri Setia Dr. Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam. Also present were State Secretary Dato’ Azhar Arshad, State Executive Councillor for Education, Higher Learning and Religious Affairs Datuk Rahmad Mariman, Director of the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) Datuk Md Azhan Samat, and MAIM Secretary Shaifulfazlee Mohamad.

Raising four children on her own without a steady income, Hawa relies entirely on monthly aid from the Melaka Islamic Religious Council (MAIM) and the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) to sustain her family.

“I always try to prepare for Raya, even if modestly. But this year feels extra special thanks to this contribution,” she said.
“With this meat, I can cook something nice for my kids. I truly hope programs like this will continue in the future to help people like me.”

She also extended her heartfelt thanks to MAIM and all involved, praying for the donors’ continued blessings and prosperity.

This year’s programme saw 25 cows sacrificed, ensuring that the joy and blessings of Aidiladha could be shared with those in need across the state.
